about

'New Ends' is the fifth instalment of the ongoing collaboration between Paul May and Matt Atkins which started back in 2009 with 'Broken Hulk Display'. Paul's unique style and fluid approach have led to him becoming one of the best known drummers in the avant/improv scene. As well as his bands Fourth Page and Found Drowned he has also collaborated with Duke Garwood over many years as well as Carolyn Hume, whose duo Hume and May have released a number of highly acclaimed albums on the Leo label.

Matt and Paul have known each other since the mid 90's having grown up in Hounslow, West London. Matt has played drums in numerous bands including Huge Baby, Smallgang, Crumbling Ghost, Newts and Russell and the Wolf Choir, and has been producing electronic music and sound art for various labels since the early 2000's. Their work together sees Paul's drum pieces remodelled and retooled using various techniques, sometimes subtly, sometimes extremely by Matt and his computer.
